Real-world sustainability for your crew

Increase efficiency, improve logistics and cut emissions.

We reduce fuel, energy, and time waste by integrating practical habits into existing workflows, giving your team the data and visibility needed to plan ahead and optimize operations across every department.

An aerial, high-angle view of a large outdoor production base camp. The scene features rows of white trailers and trucks, many of which have solar panels installed on their roofs. Several orange umbrellas and blue pop-up tents are arranged alongside the trailers, with people walking through the lot. In the background, a modern city skyline with high-rise buildings is visible under a clear, bright blue sky. The lighting is sunny, casting distinct shadows on the asphalt ground. Some branding, such as the 'GreenSpark' logo, is visible on trailers and tents.

Working Smarter is Working Greener

Sustainability isn't an extra layer of work—it's the result of smarter operations. We help productions reduce waste by improving logistics, leveraging historical data, and solving technical challenges before they become costly problems. The result is lower fuel, energy, and material consumption, along with faster, more efficient workflows.

Our approach is to simplify, not complicate. By streamlining processes and removing operational friction, we free crews to spend less time reacting to chaos and more time executing the work that matters. Better planning leads to better production—and a smaller environmental footprint naturally follows.

Who We Are

Led by industry veteran Lena Welch (pictured left on The Mandalorian, circa 2018), Next Earth is a crew-owned consultancy that brings technical expertise in production optimization, electrification, and sustainability to the fast-paced realities of film and television. We develop practical solutions that improve workflows, reduce waste, and support the people who make production happen.

Having partnered with Line Producers, Unit Production Managers, and department heads across more than 35 major studio film and television productions, we've built sustainability systems that integrate seamlessly into existing production practices—without adding unnecessary complexity.

From tech scouts and sustainability budgeting to logistics planning, fuel and energy management, and waste reduction, we work alongside your team from pre-production through wrap. Every recommendation is grounded in the realities of production, helping crews operate more efficiently while lowering costs and environmental impact.

Support for Every Approach

Support for Every Approach

We deliver the data, logistics, and reporting needed to support each studio's and producer's sustainability goals. Our approach is practical and transparent, built on our own proven data management processes while integrating industry-standard tools such as PEACH, PEAR, and PLUM—or automated platforms like The Green Shot and Green Toolkit—whenever they best serve the production. The result is clear, reliable tracking that demonstrates measurable progress.

Our Industry's Next Big Challenge

Our Industry's Next Big Challenge

For more than a century, the entertainment industry has relied on technical innovation to bring the impossible to life. Today, that same spirit of innovation can redefine how we make film, television, and live events—creating productions that are more efficient, more resilient, and more sustainable without compromising creativity or production value.

We believe the future of production isn't about doing more with bigger crews or larger footprints—it's about doing better with smarter systems, modern technologies, and thoughtful planning. Our mission is to help productions embrace that future while creating high-quality union jobs, strengthening local economies, and protecting the communities and natural environments where stories are told.

The "Business as Usual" Sucks

For way too long, we've accepted the status quo: oversized diesel generators, unnecessary fuel costs, polluted air, frustrated neighbors, greenwashed solutions, and the endless logistics of hauling fuel and equipment from location to location. There's a better way.
